Why photography?

Growing up as a teenager, I had a fascination for nature and the animal kingdom. My studies as a landscape architect and spatial designer gave me a broader view of the quickly changing world around us. Photography really started when I bought my first DSLR to capture my travels (2016).

For me, photography is a way to combine my creativity and my love for our planet. It’s the search for a perfect moment in a beautiful place. It’s also an excuse to get out early and explore (new) areas. Photography challenges me to search and try. Sometimes with succes, but sometimes without. It’s a battle; sometimes with the terrain, sometimes with the weather or with yourself. But above all, it’s a joy. Especially when all the pieces fall into place and you can capture that one perfect moment, which provides a great feeling of accomplishment.

With my photography, I try to capture time and nature in something visual. In this way, I hope to increase awe and respect for our beautiful planet. My wife Monika and I have got the privilege of having experienced many beautiful places and moments on earth, also with friends and family. I try to go out as often as possible to capture these moments, both in Belgium as all over the world. (Re)discovering beautiful places with my camera gives me energy and a sense of peace.

Hopefully my work can bring you some of this joy.

“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy.”
